London Bike Show – what will be there for youth cycling?
12 February 2014
It’s the show season, and there seem to be bike shows almost every week. Until recently there usually haven’t been many interesting youth racing specific products or suppliers at bike shows. Instead, the shows focus on higher value adult bikes and equipment – that’s where the sales volume and the higher profit margins are.
Now, though, with the explosion of children’s cycling and the resulting increased spend on youth products, the shows are becoming more relevant.
So we’ve taken a look at the exhibitors list at the London Bike Show (13th to 16th February at ExCeL in the Docklands) and picked out a few stands that could be interesting for youth cycling. Children’s tickets for the show are free of charge.

The Kona and Frog Bikes sold by Bike Swanky are good but they’re not the reason that this supplier is interesting. Instead, it’s the unusual “Kids Plan” lease buying option which includes insurance and servicing and the ability to swap to a larger bike as a child grows.
